Sustainability is a transformative process.
For innovation ecosystems to survive and thrive, we need to rethink how the future is imagined. Research and innovation in the public interest need leadership capable of experimentation and institutions that can adapt to change. Scaling sustainably requires changing our practices, attitudes, and relationships — not only our carbon footprint.
I bring a global, human-centered perspective to social impact innovation — science, technology, and research in the public interest. I work with individuals and teams of technologists, scientists, artists, teachers, and researchers to imagine how institutions are built and maintained. My research and facilitation helps teams intentionally develop organizational culture and plan for growth strategically, building more impactful initiatives and more sustainable innovation ecosystems, one group at a time.
A cultural ethnographer by training, I have worked in academia, philanthropy, tech, education, and art spaces. I completed a PhD from the City University of New York in 2016. From 2017-2021, I held university teaching and postdoctoral research positions in Anthropology, Middle East Area Studies, and Global Media and Communication. Since 2021, I have worked alongside software engineers, scientists, journalists, and civil society partners on open source software and open science initiatives.
