Research
I am an ethnographer with an ear for how individuals understand agency in their social worlds. Research for my PhD centered on the experiences of experimental musicians and their fans in three Arab cities. I have also conducted research with farmers, bar owners, fiscal hosts and other philanthropic intermediaries, digital trainers and journalists, artists, and migrant domestic workers. See the publications page for a full list of published writing.
I’ve used this experience to design and execute UX research for open source technologists and human rights defenders, to produce field scans and field reports for funders, and to help civil society partners marshall large data sets into narratable stories with human impact.
